Millennium project
Millennium project is a story of two old rogues and their dream. Jaakko Pikkarainen and Raimo Hämeenniemi started rallying and competing in other car races in the early 1960s. In the 80s they competed in several RAC-rallies. During that time they thought about rallying in the king of all rallies, the Monte Carlo rally. After the RAC rallies they both were very busy with other things, but the famous Monte Carlo rally kept living in their dreams. In 1999 they felt that it would be good time to fulfill their dream. The rally was set to start just after the dawn of the new Millennium on 20th January at 10 am.
When J J Husso volunteared as a team manager and Rikki Johnson, former mechanic of Tommi Mäkinen from RalliArt England, promised to join the team as a technical specialist, Old Rogues Racing Team was ready to start fulfilling the dream. Uwe Nittel’s former group N Mitsubishi Lancer EVO III was purchased to be the team’s rally car.
After a little struggle everything was ready at the time of the start. Jaakko and Raimo started with number 59. After the challenges in the first day finishing in 51st position was a great accomplishment. “The team had conquered Monte Carlo.”
We would like thank all sponsors for supporting us.
